On June 4, 2008 severe thunderstorms began to impact the upper Midwest United States. Tornadoes, hail, severe lightning, and rain led to major damage to much of the region. Flash flooding led to the evacuation of thousands of homes in low-lying areas. The situation worsened as rain continued on June 5. Flooding has continued up to June 13. States affected by the flooding include Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, and Wisconsin.
